are not for the weak, or feint of
heart. They are not very
reliable, by today's standards, and
one must be knowledgeable in mechanics
and skillful at designing and
producing makeshift parts at the whim
of the motorcycle. However, panheads
are still so loved and admired by the
Harley-Davidson community that Harley
has been very successful selling a
modern version at very high prices.
The new model, called the Heritage
Classic, has the new Evolution motor,
also called the "blockhead"
or "evo". It also utilizes a
"soft tail" frame which
looks like the old rigid frame but
employs a gas cylinder device to
provide suspension for comfort. |
